Before you invest from India.
Work through these checks before you choose a stock or move money abroad.
Your return in rupees
For holdings priced in Canadian dollars (CAD), changes in CAD/INR affect their value in rupees. Currency movements can help or hurt your return, even when the share price stays the same.
Currency risk (OSC)What you already own
An overseas allocation can reduce reliance on one market, but it does not prevent losses. Check sector overlap with your Indian stocks, US holdings and funds. Adding another bank or resource business may increase an exposure you already have.
Diversification (OSC)Your residence and eligibility
India's Liberalised Remittance Scheme applies to eligible resident individuals for permitted transactions. Check the current requirements with your authorised bank before sending money abroad. NRIs and other non-residents may have different requirements.

Which Savart plan includes Canadian stocks?
Savart X and Savart One both cover Canada alongside India and the US. Compare their advice allowances, included research and planning services to choose the right membership.
Can I invest in Canadian stocks from India?
Eligible resident individuals may make permitted overseas investments under the applicable RBI rules. Check your eligibility, the remittance requirements and your account provider's terms before transferring money. Different rules may apply to NRIs and other non-residents. An advisory subscription does not establish investment eligibility.
How does the Canadian dollar affect my return?
If your holdings are priced in Canadian dollars and you measure your wealth in rupees, both the share price and CAD/INR affect their rupee value. Currency movements can increase or reduce your return. The same principle applies if your spending currency is something other than INR.
Does adding Canadian stocks make my portfolio safer?
Not automatically. The companies and sectors you add matter as much as the country. Check whether you are spreading your exposure or adding more of what you already own. Diversification does not guarantee returns or protect you from every loss.
Does this include a Canadian brokerage account?
