Goal Calculator
Have a number in mind, a home, a wedding, a corpus? See the monthly investment that gets you there in the time you have.
What is Goal?
Working backwards from a goal is often more useful than guessing a monthly number. You know what you want and when, the question is how much to set aside each month to get there.
This calculator solves for that monthly SIP, given your target, your timeframe and the return you expect.
How it's calculated
It inverts the SIP formula: given the target future value, it solves for the monthly amount P = FV ÷ [((1 + i)^n − 1) ÷ i × (1 + i)], with the same monthly rate i = (1 + r)^(1÷12) − 1 the SIP calculator uses. A longer timeframe or a higher return lowers the monthly amount you need.
An example
To reach ₹20 lakh in 10 years at 12% a year, you would invest about ₹8,927 a month, roughly ₹10.7 lakh of your own money, with growth covering the rest.
Questions people ask
What if I cannot invest that much?
Give yourself more time, split the goal into stages, or revisit the target. Even a smaller monthly amount started now beats waiting for the perfect number.
Should I adjust the goal for inflation?
For goals far out, yes, ₹20 lakh will not buy in 15 years what it buys today. Our inflation calculator shows the future cost.
